I’ve been wanting to stay at the Anaheim Courtyard Marriott Theme Park Entrance for years! It’s that hotel across the street from Disneyland with the water park you can see from the street. It’s right next door to the Howard Johnson, which has a water playground.

What’s awesome about this hotel is that it sleeps up to 6 people, making it a top Disneyland hotel for large families.

My room was located on the 6th floor (room 637 to be exact) and that is the top floor of this hotel. It had 2 queen size beds and a set up bunk beds.

What really sets this hotel apart from other Disneyland hotels is that there are 2 showers in the bathroom! One is a large, glass shower and the other is a shower will a full bath tub. This makes is really easy to get the whole family clean without waiting to hop in the shower.

Honest Review of the Courtyard by Marriott Anaheim Theme Park Entrance

What I liked:

Bunkbeds

My kids love bunkbeds! While they weren’t here with me on this trip, we often rent hotel rooms with bunk beds and they like being near each other without being in the same bed.

And my husband and I like not having to always share beds with the kids.

Bathroom

The bathroom set up is pretty fabulous. On one side, there’s a shower with a bathtub. It’s open so you can keep an eye on your kids while you brush your teeth or shower in the other shower.

And the other shower is really big and that’s where the toilet is. There’s a door to close off that toilet and shower so you can get a bit of privacy.

For the sink situation, there are two sinks. We love that because the kids can use one and we can use another. It saves time brushing teeth and washing hands (especially with more than one kid.)

Microwave

The rooms have a minifridge, which is pretty common in hotel rooms. However, I was really impressed that they also had a microwave.

This makes it easy to bring your own oatmeal packets or hot chocolate for a quick and easy breakfast in the room. But, it’s also a great way to reheat leftovers so you don’t waste food.

On-Site Food/Drink

In the lobby, they have a little Bistro that serves Starbucks coffee drinks as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner items.

I stopped here for coffee every morning and it was really good. And it saved me a TON of time not having to wait at Starbucks at Downtown Disney or inside the Parks.

I also tried their flatbread pizza and it was definitely a shareable size. I know my kids would like it.

Besides the Bistro, there is also a gift shop and a little market that sells cold drinks, snacks, and prepackaged breakfast items.

Gift Shop

I love it when hotels have decent sized gift shops. This one has a selection of things you might have forgotten to pack, clothing, hats, souvenirs, etc.

Mimi’s Cafe

I love that there is a restaurant option right in the parking lot of this hotel. It’s great for families who want a big, sit down meal without walking very far.

Water Park

While I didn’t use the water park this trip, I know I would have if my kids were with me. When we price out Disneyland hotels, we always factor in any special amenities. This water park is the reason we’d pay a little more for a room at the Courtyard Marriott Anaheim than other hotels.

It would be great to use during the afternoon in the summer when it’s just too hot to be in the Parks. It would also be great to hang out on a travel day or rest day.

What I didn’t like:

Outside Walkways

One of the first things that I noticed is that the walkway to get from the front of the hotel to the sidewalk requires you to walk in the opposite direction of the Parks.

Families with little kids (or those who are tired after walking around the Parks all day) are going to cut through the parking lot by Mimi’s Cafe to get to the hotel. There are no safe ways to do this, so families need to be extra careful.

Lack of Disney Theme

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn (which is next door) a few years ago and they did a great job incorporating Disney without going overboard. I assumed that the Courtyard by Marriott would have something similar.

While the lobby and rooms were bright, cheery, and open, I wish there were a few more nods to Disneyland. I’m assuming most of the guests staying there are heading to the Parks, so it would have been cute to have the artwork reflect that.

Would I stay here again?

Most likely, if I had my kids with me. It’s one of the most popular Disneyland hotels for family and it’s really easy to see why.

They have great customer service and the hotel was clean, roomy, and in a great location. Plus, one of my requirements is good coffee and they have that!
